Our Carers Strategy

Aberdeen City Health and Social Partnership has recently published the new Carers Strategy 2026 - 2030- "a City for all Carers", which acknowledges the huge contribution that Carers make and seeks to support all unpaid Carers in Aberdeen City.

During the development of the new strategy there were several key inputs including; the National Carers Strategy from Scottish Government, the Care Reform (Scotland) Act 2025 and the dedicated work and support of the Carers Strategy Implementation Group and most importantly the wider consultation and engagement of Carers across the City.

The new Carers Strategy identifies 2 key priorities to support Carers:

  1. We work together - carers, services and partners to make carers feel included, provide clear information, and empower them to use their rights to access the support they need.

  2. Our collective Community are creative and innovative with our finance and resources to maximise support to Carers.

This short film clip highlights some of the challenges that unpaid carers often experience.

It has been created to support the launch of the Carers Strategy (2026–2030) for Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership (ACHSCP).

While this clip captures only a small part of the individual’s story, it offers an important glimpse into their day‑to‑day reality. Over the coming weeks, we will be releasing a series of five additional clips. Together, these will explore the person’s journey in greater depth—showing the challenges they face, the support they draw upon, and the creativity, resilience, and commitment they demonstrate throughout.

Please help us get this information out across the city by sharing with your local networks, local groups, and community events wherever possible.

If you are an adult unpaid Carer and require support, you can access information and advice from Quarriers (Aberdeen Carers Support Service - Virtual Carers Centre).
