ACHSCP and Bon Accord Care Achieve Digital Telecare Award

Digital Telecare for Scottish Local Government were delighted to confirm that Aberdeen City Council Health and Social Care Partnership and Bon Accord Care have been awarded the Bronze Digital Telecare Implementation Award in recognition of the progress they have made on their analogue to digital telecare transition project.

To achieve Bronze status through Route 2, a Telecare Service Provider must have successfully deployed digital-ready alarm devices to at least 50% of all dispersed and group alarm users. This is the first major milestone in the transition to digital telecare and sets the foundations upon which the rest of the digital telecare transition will rest.

Bon Accord Care started their digital journey back in 2017, trialling a small amount of digital alarm units. Although it became apparent that the market was far from ready with digital solutions, the experience the team gained by testing and installing these units helped shape their decisions for the future when planning their transition to digital.

During 2022 they spent a series of months testing equipment to ensure what they purchased was the best digital solution for the citizens of Aberdeen City. They started their replacement program on 1st September 2023 and 4 months later they were just over halfway through upgrading their service users with a new digital alarm. The last 4 months, behind the scenes, has not been without issues, due to signal and connectivity which led to lots of frustration, but the team worked hard to ensure the digital journey was seamless for their service users. Achieving this award is a great milestone and would not have been possible without the passion and dedication of the whole team.

Neil Gauld, Finance and Commercial Director at Bon Accord Care said: “I am delighted that our Telecare Team have been recognised for all their hard work since the project began. They have shown great organisation, enthusiasm, and teamwork to implement these units so efficiently and to get this far is a great achievement. Well done to all involved.”

Achieving the Bronze award is a significant milestone for Aberdeen City Council Health and Social Care Partnership and Bon Accord Care, and now that this digital alarm receiving solution is in place, the organisations can move towards the first phase of testing with alarms and peripherals.

We extend our wholehearted congratulations to Aberdeen City Council Health and Social Care Partnership and Bon Accord Care and look forward to continuing to work with them as they progress towards the Silver Digital Telecare Implementation Award.

Fraser Bell, Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership Chief Operating Officer said: “This achievement is testament to our collective commitment at Aberdeen City HSCP and our telecare service provider Bon Accord Care to ensuring a safe and seamless transition for our telecare customers to a full digital telecare service before December 2025.

Through our Analogue to Digital Transition Programme, we are aiming to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our telecare and alarm response services, as well as improving the overall experience for our valued customers. It’s great to see that our positive steps towards our ambitions have been recognised with the Bronze Award.“
