Partnership appoints new Clinical Director

Dr Caroline Howarth MBChB FRCGP has been appointed as the new Clinical Director for Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership.

Caroline was selected following a competitive assessment process and takes up her post immediately.

Integration Joint Board Chair Councillor Sarah Duncan said: “I am delighted that Caroline is joining the Partnership’s Leadership Team. She has a wealth of experience in the delivery of primary care services for the people of Aberdeen and has already demonstrated her strong leadership skills through her prominent role with professional GP bodies and in key Partnership initiatives.”

Caroline graduated from Aberdeen University in 2000 and has been a Partner at Peterculter Medical Practice for 14 years.

She first became involved in medical leadership when she joined the Grampian Local Medical Committee and the GP Sub-committee in 2008, representing her GP colleagues at both local and national levels. She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2015

Caroline became cluster lead for the Central South GP Cluster in 2013 and went on to became one of the deputy clinical leads for the Partnership in 2016. She has been involved in many projects across the city, including the recent and very successful West Visits initiative. She is currently leading on the Primary Care Improvement Plan and its implementation across Aberdeen.

Caroline said: “I am delighted to have been appointed in this role at such an exciting time of change, both for GPs with our new contract but also with the changes that are happening across the Health and Social Care Partnership. I am looking forward to joining the new leadership team and working with all our partners across Aberdeen city.”
