Aberdeen Autism Strategy

We have revised our local Autism strategy and action plan.

The new strategy and action plan runs from 2019 to 2022 and is a strategy for all age groups across Aberdeen City.

The strategy reiterates the vision of the Scottish Strategy for Autism and the action plan focussed on meaningful and sustainable changes to improve outcome for autistic people in Aberdeen City.

Autism Cards

Autism cards can be used to raise awareness, alert or disclose autism and communication needs in a safe way in everyday situations or in emergencies.

Cards typically are credit card sized and can provide a visual aid to either the autistic person or the person to whom the card is presented.  It can help to reduce anxiety, ask for help and provide the person presented with the card more information about how to support and communicate with the individual the card belongs to.

There are various types of cards available across Scotland, with details below on how to access some of these cards.  Most are suitable for children and/or adults and are already used by many autistic people across Scotland.  There may be other awareness/alert cards available for you to access on shopping sites like Amazon.
